Towards an Online Office

The new word on the Internet is the so called Web 2.0 ( web two point oh). This is not a new system that we have to learn, just a natural development. More a two way sharing system, let's call it a collaborative system, in which you can share with a small group, everybody or nobody.

What do we require in our office? We need to; Enquire, Plan, Calculate, Communicate, Organise and Collaborate

But first some definitions:-

Online

Working over the Internet, the software that you use is far away, you save your files on their computer, not yours, you can work at home, school, work, anywhere! In many systems all versions of your work are saved. So you can recover last weeks notes that you changed yesterday.

Collaborate

Depending on how you set up your online system either only you can create, modify or view your files. Or a few colleagues can share your files and see the latest version and change parts for you to see the next time you log on.

It's all or nothing or any point in between.

Google

Google is well known for its search engine. Recently it has branched out and purchased many new Web 2.0 systems.

It's easy and free to sign up for their online docs service. Click here.

Please use the links below to understand more the tools that are here now and, for the most part, free of charge.
